Still undecided about when our first night at The Rudder was
It’s a Wednesday and it’s been a month-and-a-half since my last blog and I’m drinking downstairs at the bar underneath my apartment. Hey, you wanted a blog, right? There’s a call-in request radio show and every request begins with a lame-ass sob story tied to the most God-awful crap music there is. I’m already at my wits end and that’s before the inevitable Journey song that’s sure to pop up. (Editor’s note: Don’t stop believing!) Thus, I’m now …
Remember The Stone Balloon!
Welcome to the May... uh June... um... what month is this...? Welcome to the Almost-Summer edition of the blog. I would first like to thank you for taking precious time off of Facebook to read this pathetically inadequate blog of mine. We recently returned to Newark, DE - home of many classic Love Seed shows. We were glad to be back in our old stomping grounds thought it was stange not to be at the Stone Balloon. Even stranger, I don’t think the current UD generation ever got a chance to smell the …
We're getting paid in liquor?
Hello the-bored-few reading this. We’ve had a couple interesting gigs the past few weeks. First we’ll start off with Looney’s “Halfway to Halloween Party” in which a staggering ZERO% of the audience participated. That’s right, apparently the people of BelAir, MD aren’t quite that bored yet. One funny note: the manager in charge obviously frustrated with the costume turnout, asked if I would make a bogus announcement stating that there was a cash prize for best …
Get home safe, Archer!
Hey Everybody... and by everybody I mean the 5 or 6 people that actually read this thing. You know who you are. Give yourself a good pat on the back and then run out to your favorite watering hole and buy yourself a shot. Go on, you deserve it! We recently returned to the great Finnegan's Wake in Philly and, although the Jager holster above my microphone was missed, it was still a great show. I should also note that it was the first time I actually remembered walking out of that place. Country Ken …
Hadji Weighs In
Hey everyone! Since I've been either busy with the kids or sidelined with this stupid illness the past few weeks, I had Roger (Hadji) write the blogs for J.B. McGinnes, Field House and Logan House. My blog on Bubba's will follow in a few days as I'm still trying to shake off being sick (strep throat with a secondary bronchial infection if you were wondering. I had to go to a Doctor and everything. Haven't had to go to a doctor in 2 and a half years. This bullshit broke my streak) and haven't really been …
You Deserve Better Than That!
Hey everyone! Sorry for the late post but I've had the kids all week and haven't had as much time to waste on a computer. Even as I type, I am fighting the urge to peer around and watch the rest of "Kung Fu Panda". Anyway, We played the Delaware Music Festival this past Saturday for the Rudder's opening weekend and it was a blast. To try and do something a little different this time around, we decided to dust off a few of our old originals and see what would happen. To our delight, we found …
Love Seed Unconventional?
Hey all you blogger heads out there on "the internets". Not too much to report this week as we only played one show at Maddies in Frazer, Pa but it was a milestone for us because we played four (count 'em four) NEW SONGS! I know! I'm totally excited, too! Yes, Love Seed has actually practiced and will be trying out new songs in the upcoming months to see what works and what doesn't. Who knows, if these go well, we might learn even more songs. I personally, am still reeling from the fact that …
Faster! Faster!
Well, It was an interesting weekend to say the least. Friday night we returned to the Wharf Tavern in Aston, PA for the first time in a couple of months. First time we played there was the grand re-opening party. As fate would have it, the grand re-opening party was on one of the hottest days in the summer and the air conditioning broke down making it about 110 degrees by the time we took the stage. I’m happy to report that both the AC and the heat are functioning to the best of their abilities. …
A Looooong St. Patty's Party
Thank the Good Lord St Patrick's Day only comes once a %$#@! year. If I had to do that two times a year plus the summertime madness, I would have never made it as long as I did and I'm half Irish by descent! I'm letting down my peeps! Anyway, the weekend started off with the grand opening of Looney's South so it's official. You can't swing a dead cat in the Baltimore / Bel Air area without hitting a Looney's. They are well on their way to world domination as foretold in the bible. Nobody will suspect... …
Herndon, VA and Changing Names to Protect Sources
Well, LSMJ returned to Herndon, Va this past Saturday with a slightly altered line up and a new club in a familiar shopping center. Herndon is a cool little town about a half hour from DC and they have an awesome family friendly "Friday Night Live" event in the summer which we've done for about ten years now. However, I must admit that Herndon sounds less like a town name and more of a farm hand name from a Ma and Pa Kettle movie. "Herrrrrndon! Come get your vittles! Supper's on the …
